Odisha is preparing for another international investment campaign, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi scheduled to lead a three-day investment outreach programme in the United Arab Emirates beginning September 8. The visit is aimed at presenting Odisha as an attractive destination for global investors and strengthening business relationships across manufacturing, energy, infrastructure and emerging sectors. The UAE has particular importance for Odisha because of its strong Indian business community, international financial networks and growing investment interest in infrastructure, logistics, energy and technology. The state government is expected to use the visit to engage with investors and business leaders while also connecting with the Odia diaspora. According to a report published on September 3, Odisha has attracted investment proposals of around ₹21 lakh crore over the past two years, with projects worth approximately ₹3.5 lakh crore already grounded. The next challenge is to convert investment proposals into operational projects, employment and supply-chain opportunities. International investment outreach can help Odisha diversify its investor base and attract companies that may otherwise concentrate their investments in established industrial states. For local entrepreneurs, the potential benefit is significant because every major industrial project can generate opportunities for vendors, logistics operators, contractors, technology providers, professional services and MSMEs. The UAE visit therefore has significance beyond government-to-business meetings; it is part of Odisha’s attempt to establish itself as a globally connected investment destination
