ULTRAVIOLETTE’S MASS-MARKET EV EXPANSION COULD CHANGE ITS POSITION IN INDIA’S TWO-WHEELER MARKET

0

Ultraviolette’s planned Hosur factory is designed to take the company beyond its premium motorcycle identity and into higher-volume electric mobility. The facility will initially have capacity for 250,000 vehicles annually and can scale toward 500,000. Its upcoming Tesseract scooter is expected to be a major volume driver, with the company targeting production and demand levels far above its current motorcycle business. The expansion comes as India’s electric two-wheeler market continues to grow and crosses an important scale threshold. Ultraviolette expects scooters and motorcycles eventually to contribute roughly equally to its volumes, while international sales could rise to approximately 25% of total sales. The development demonstrates the transition of Indian EV startups from engineering-led product companies toward manufacturing businesses that need large-scale supply chains, financing and distribution networks.
