INDIABULLS AGREES TO BUY 70% OF FINTECH CLOUD FOR ₹1,050 CRORE
Indiabulls has agreed to acquire a 70% stake in Fintech Cloud for ₹1,050 crore, marking another example of consolidation between traditional financial-services businesses and specialised financial-technology platforms. Fintech Cloud provides technology services related to loan origination, underwriting and servicing for non-banking financial companies. The acquisition is significant because lending businesses increasingly depend on technology for customer acquisition, credit assessment, documentation, servicing and collections. Instead of developing every technology capability internally, financial companies can acquire specialised platforms with established software and teams. The transaction therefore illustrates a maturing phase of India’s fintech industry in which strategic acquisitions can become as important as venture-capital funding. It also shows that the next phase of fintech growth may focus less on consumer-facing payment apps and more on infrastructure that powers banks and NBFCs behind the scenes. Such platforms can become particularly valuable as lenders seek faster digital onboarding and more sophisticated credit analytics.
