Bengaluru-based A-One Steels India has launched a ₹405 crore initial public offering as the steel manufacturer seeks fresh capital while reducing its debt burden. The issue includes a fresh share sale of ₹355 crore and an offer for sale of ₹50 crore by promoters. Before the public issue opened, the company raised approximately ₹120.9 crore through its anchor book from eight investors, including Morgan Stanley and domestic mutual-fund participation. The company plans to use ₹250 crore from the fresh issue to repay debt, with the remaining funds allocated for general corporate purposes. A-One Steels and its subsidiaries operate six manufacturing facilities across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, with combined capacity of approximately 17.33 lakh tonnes per year across intermediate and finished steel products. Its portfolio includes billets, sponge iron, hot-rolled coils, TMT bars and hot-rolled pipes. The IPO arrives at a time when India’s infrastructure and construction demand continues to support steel consumption, although the industry remains exposed to raw-material prices, global steel markets and competitive pressures. For the company, reducing debt could strengthen the balance sheet and provide greater financial flexibility for future expansion. The public issue also illustrates how India’s primary market is providing capital to companies across the manufacturing spectrum, not only technology and consumer businesses.
